The Last Supper

During my recent stays in Italy, Milan revealed itself as a place of profound contemplation before one of the pinnacles of art history: Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper. Standing before its silent and transcendent presence, I understood that it is not about reaching the work, but about humbly touching the breath of its permanence.

On this date—May 2, 1519, marking Leonardo’s passing—I present this tribute as a gesture of dialogue and reverence. The 33 × 66-inch canvas carries a symbolic dimension: 33, the age of Christ; 66, its doubling, its echo; and within that repetition, the suggestion of the third day, of transcendence and renewal.

The piece is built from my own visual language, from the tension between the visible and the implied, holding signs that do not impose themselves but instead wait to be discovered. More than an interpretation, it is a sensitive approach—an attempt to translate, in the present moment, that which continues to breathe from eternity. Fredy Villamil, Artist
