SHOW HIGHLIGHTS
The Aldo Castillo Gallery pays tribute to the masterful work of LORNA MARSH.
Cape Town, South Africa, B 1949 – D 2022.
Lorna Marsh was born in Cape Town, South Africa and is considered one of the most original female artists of our time. Her early art instruction included courses with visiting professors from the Royal Academy and she also attended the Art Institute in Chicago. The artistic vision of Lorna Marsh was shaped primarily by the interaction of humans with themselves, animals and nature. Her paintings explore the beauty and conflict inherent in those boundaries and were an early reminder of the effects of our continued expansion into the natural world.
Lorna Marsh work has been exhibited throughout the world, in solo shows in South America, Spain, the USA and South Africa and in group shows in Italy and the USA. She has had many prominent shows at the Florida Museum of Hispanic and Latin American Art in Miami and at the Jacobo Borges Museum in Caracas, Venezuela.
Lorna has been represented exclusively since 1993 by the Aldo Castillo Gallery.

Digital Art: Lluis Barba is a conceptual photographer that merges social criticism into contemporary art. He births new life inspired by historical paintings and crosses their boundaries by the addition of pop icons. Jorge Brinkerhoff, introduces actions of light into abstract images using LEDs and custom software. His imagery unfolds gradually revealing live applications of pigments.
Painting: Lorna Marsh, born in South Africa whose master works are considered one of the most important statements by female contemporary artists of our time. Her works often convey the dignity of nature and the self-destruction of man.
Fredy Villamil paints by synthesizing figuration, abstraction and influences of major Modern Masters including Picasso.
Enrique Machado, is an abstract, three-dimensional painter marked by traces of textures by mixing silicone, resin and acrylic, He is inspired by man’s destiny in the image of water.
Textile Collage: Javier-Guadalupe, Shapes, colors and textile wefts have been a constant contribution to creativity, managing these resources with knowledge that allows works of art of excellent taste. He upholds clear and direct ideas with his own established and traced style through experimentation and the search for new forms of expression. He perseveres with a philosophy in which success enables the human being to become a timeless work of art that will always resonate in human existence.
Sculpture: Daniele Fortuna, Growing up in Italy, Daniele Fortuna had always been fascinated by the figures of ancient mythology and the dream-worlds they represent. Today, he brings these childhood heroes to life and gives them a third dimension in the form of intricate wooden sculptures with a splash of contemporary color.
Installation: Kevin Langedijk, As a native Dutchman, visual artist Kevin Langedijk (1982) With the series 'ADDICTED' Langedijk returns to the late eighties and early nineties of the last century. With the fall of the Berlin Wall, things seemed to be going well in the world forever. It was a period in which prosperity increased rapidly. A time of quick money, lavish luxury and the rise of lifestyle brands such as Prada and Versace. You developed an image of yourself with the brands you surrounded yourself with. It was also the period when the use of the chemical drug XTC at house parties was introduced.
Conceptual Art: Scott Ashley gained notoriety for his re-appropriation of everyday objects.
He expresses concepts through a multi-media approach connecting familiar objects, personal connection, cultural meaning and transformation.
Glass Art: Marlene Rose, globally acclaimed glass sculptor, is collected by the glass cognoscenti, fine art collectors and Hollywood A-list celebrities. Her process is relatively new, based in cast bronzing finishing in sand. Part of every piece derives its power and strength from the common core we share with our ancestors.
New Media: Augusto Esquivel, known as “The Buttons Artist” appropriates thousands of tiny buttons to create idiosyncratic three-dimensional art that range from interpretations of the old masters to everyday objects of pop culture.
DIRECTOR ALDO CASTILLO will offer a strong curatorial statement that reflects his 35 years of experience as both an international art dealer and art fair organizer.
