Love Me Now – Couture in Art

Patricia Schnall Gutierrez's solo exhibition "Love Me Now - Couture in Art" is about women's attire with an emphasis on haute couture. The show includes drawings and figurative paintings. On display, there are two large collage portrait drawings with actual clothing incorporated into the works. Schnall Gutierrez's charcoal drawings feature large iconic female dresses, while her oil paintings reflect on fashion houses and season collections. Her oil paintings, entirely abstract and without a hint of the female figure, bring fashion to a conceptual level.

Fredy Villamil
A Tribute to Claude Monet

VIP Opening Reception - Wednesday, January 10, 2024. 5-7PM
Cuban-American artist Fredy Villamil, in his peak of his artistic career pays tribute to Claude Monet. Villamil traveled to Giverny, and painted at the Maison & Jardins de Claude Monet where the impressionist artist created his iconic water lilies series. As in Monet’s paintings, Villamil works focus on basic characteristics, such as texture, light, brushstroke and the use of colors. Late in his life Monet produced a series of paintings that were very blue. Contrary to Villamil, Monet did not use black arguing that it makes his paintings dull. For example, he darkened blue with orange and red.

Augusto Esquivel does a twist on kinetic art by appropriating thousands of different shaped buttons to create idiosyncratic, sculptural art forms that range from old master paintings to objects of popular culture. Esquivel decided to make buttons the objects of his affection and artwork, and take them beyond the mundane into new aesthetic realms and give them a new role and context.
