Vladimir Zbynovsky

Vladimir Zbynovsky (born 1964, Bratislava, Slovakia) is a Slovak sculptor in glass and stone who has lived and worked in France since 1991. After secondary studies at the School of Decorative Arts in Bratislava, where he focused on the art of stone, he continued his training as a sculptor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, and there glass became his favorite material. He obtained his degree in sculpture in 1991 and moved to France, where he exhibits regularly with leading European and international galleries and takes part in art fairs.

Zbynovsky works glass in all its aspects, mixing hot and cold techniques, casting, fusing, carving and polishing, in an attempt to draw near to the mysteries of the universe through his creations. The theme of his degree work, The Birth of Light, lies at the root of a perpetual search centred on transparency, the inner nature of the object and its luminous potential.

His cycles of creation follow one another under titles such as Birth of Light, Aura of Stone and Spirit of Stone, each evoking the attempt to marry stone and glass, heaviness and transparency, the diurnal and nocturnal reflections of the psyche.
