About Octavio Irving Hernandez Jimenez
The visual artist Octavio Irving Hernández Jiménez holds a degree in Fine Arts. He graduated from the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts in 2000 and from the Higher Institute of Art in Havana in 2006. Currently he leads the Experimental Graphic Workshop of Havana. In addition, he is serving as executive vice president of the Plastic Arts Association at the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, as President of the Engraving Section. He is professor of engraving at the San Alejandro and ISA art academies. He was awarded with the grand prix of engraving “La Joven Estampa” by Casa de las Americas, in May 2007. |
His works are in private collections in dissimilar countries such as Spain, Italy, Germany, Norway, Belgium, Sweden, England, Mexico, USA, Canada, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Brazil, California and Japan, among others.
His works are in the collections of numerous cultural institutions, museums and universities in Cuba: Casa de las Américas (Havana), National Council of Plastic Arts, Iberostar Hotel Chain (Varadero), Superior Institute of Art (Havana), Academy of Fine Arts San Alejandro (Havana), Experimental Graphic Workshop of Havana, the Cuban network of galleries, governor House Santa Clara (Villa Clara, Cuba), Hotel Habana Libre; and abroad: Ateneo de Cáceres (Spain), Hotel Alba Caracas (Venezuela), Museum of Prints and Design (Caracas, Venezuela).
