Aphrodite Venus

Aphrodite Venus reflects Daniele Fortuna’s distinctive practice of reconstructing classical imagery through layered, hand-cut and painted wood. Here, the figure of Venus is presented within an architectural framework that recalls the form of a bookcase, bringing together classical sculpture, contemporary art, and design. The work enters into dialogue with Italian architect and designer Fabio Novembre’s Venus Bookcase, a functional design object inspired by the wooden crates traditionally used by museums to protect and transport classical sculpture. Novembre’s version combines natural oak shelving with a Venus figure made from recomposed marble and resin.

Fortuna reinterprets this concept through his own sculptural language, transforming the classical Venus through wood, layering, fragmentation, and color.
