Nina Surel

Nina Surel was born in Buenos Aires in 1971. She studied Fashion and Textile Design at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and Costume and Set Design at the Teatro Colón, and has been based in Miami since 2001.

Her ceramic practice explores rites of passage, fertility and transformation through material and form, engaging Florida's ecological and pre-colonial narratives. Her full-size women, intriguing and marked by an aristocratic, fairytale allure, are portrayed against richly decorative backgrounds in innovative works inspired by the artist's interest in romantic female literature.

She has exhibited internationally, including at Art Basel Miami Beach in 2024, NADA New York in 2025 and the Miami Design District, and her work is held in major public and private collections including Miami International Airport and El Espacio 23.
