Daniel Fiorda
Daniel Fiorda is a self-taught sculptor born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has exhibited widely throughout the United States, including at OK Harris Gallery and Allan Stone Gallery in New York, Heriard-Cimino Gallery in New Orleans and a long run of galleries and outdoor exhibitions in Miami, Miami Beach, Orlando and Key West, as well as at Lelia Mordoch Gallery in Paris. His work has developed in named series, among them Heavy Toys, Velocidad Metal, The Japanese Series, The Guns Series and the Square series, and his early awards were for metal sculpture.
Fiorda was one of the winners of the 7th Annual Sculpture Competition at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, in 2003, was selected for the inaugural Palm Beach International Sculpture Biennale in 2006 and has exhibited three times in Sculpture Key West. He is an alumni artist of ArtCenter/South Florida. Two pieces from his Convertible Couch projects were selected by Art in Public Places in Orlando in 2002 and 2003 and were displayed for a year at the entrance to the Orlando Science Center.
His work is held in public collections. The Highland Museum of Art in Sebring, Florida, acquired Red Hunter, a sculpture from the Heavy Toys series of 2008, and installed it in front of the museum's garden, and the Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) in Los Angeles added a piece from the 2008 Square series to its permanent collection and gave him its Auction 08: Contemporary Honorary Award. He has also shown at art fairs including Art Miami, Art Palm Beach, Scope Miami, Bridge Art Fair, M.I.A. Art Fair and the Shanghai Art Fair, in most cases with Lelia Mordoch Gallery.
