Arturo Morín

Arturo Morín (born 1953, Mexico City) is a Mexican painter and architect. He studied architecture at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and has dedicated himself to architecture and the visual arts since 1980, developing his painting as a self-taught artist.

Known for his expressive use of color and the human figure, Morín also works in sculpture and mixed media. His subjects range from everyday life to imaginative themes, and his techniques include acrylic, oil, pastel, charcoal and enamel on paper, canvas, wood and stone.

Since 1982 Morín has taken part in more than 80 solo and group exhibitions in Mexico and abroad, including the United States, Spain, Austria, the Netherlands, Chile and Argentina. His work has been shown at Agora Gallery in New York, was selected for the Arad Biennial in Romania in 2005 and was included in the XIII Tamayo Painting Biennial in 2006. He has created more than 2,500 original works and has been recognized among Mexico's 100 most important living painters by the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes.
